About the role#
Murray Company is hiring a Project Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will join our Operations group to gain hands-on experience in project management. This role supports mechanical projects involving plumbing, HVAC, process piping, and industrial systems. You will work directly with our project managers across pre-construction, fabrication, and field installation functions.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the planning, scheduling, and coordination of mechanical projects.
- Manage essential project documentation such as submittals, RFIs, change orders, and reports.
- Participate in site visits to monitor progress and verify compliance with project specifications.
- Support the team in preparing cost estimates and project budgets.
- Facilitate communication between project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Aid in the implementation of quality control measures and safety protocols.
- Review project designs, drawings, and specifications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university program pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to take initiative and work effectively within a team.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week for 10-12 consecutive weeks.
- Physical ability to traverse uneven surfaces on project sites and climb stairs.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site position based in San Diego, California, with travel to project sites in the Southern California area.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
- We do not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
