About the role#
The Municipality of Lakeshore is hiring a GIS Co-op Student to join the Community Planning Division. You will support various municipal departments by maintaining, editing, and creating digital data. This role involves working on special projects and assisting with regular workflows to provide geographic information across the organization.
What you'll do#
- Create, maintain, edit, and acquire municipal data for all departments.
- Update and maintain GIS infrastructure databases, including sanitary sewers, storm sewers, and water mains.
- Produce standard and special-purpose maps, plans, sketches, and reports based on geographic data.
- Handle other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Development Services.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university program related to Geography, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or Computer Science.
- Experience with Microsoft applications, Office 365, Windows operating systems, servers, and SQL Server.
- Working knowledge of networking protocols and standards.
- Strong attention to detail when creating maps and editing spatial database features.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment with a focus on customer service.
- Capability to prioritize tasks and meet requirements in a busy environment.
- Professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- An ESRI ArcGIS suite certificate or experience with these products is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Belle River, Ontario.
- Schedule: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 35 hours per week.
- Compensation: $24.51 per hour.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Employment type: Full-time.
