About the role#
The PHP Immunization & Community Health Intern supports the population health team by managing immunization reporting requirements, community outreach, and data administration. This role focuses on improving community well-being through vaccine access and public health education. You will work within a hybrid environment, balancing administrative tasks with community-facing responsibilities.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate low-barrier mobile immunization clinics in partnership with community organizations.
- Educate the community on the importance of vaccines and manage essential communications with families.
- Collaborate with staff to develop and refine accessible resources for families and educators regarding immunization mandates.
- Implement programs to help families navigate exclusion laws and keep students protected.
- Monitor temperature logs, update tracking tools, and perform data entry, including work with the Oregon ALERT IIS registry.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited institution leading to a post-graduate degree or equivalent program.
- One year of experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Master-level student status in Public Health, Health Promotion, Community Health, or Epidemiology is preferred.
- Experience with immunization registries, such as Oregon ALERT IIS.
- Ability to translate technical public health information into clear, empathetic, and accessible communication for families.
Location & details#
- Location: Portland, Oregon, with work occurring at the Gateway Children's Center Service Building and various outreach sites.
- Modality: Hybrid work environment with one mandatory in-person day per week and additional on-site requirements based on operational needs.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: $24 per hour.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, with evening and weekend availability required based on community and operational needs.
