About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to complete clinical rotations or a practicum as part of a treatment team at a facility-based detox center. The role focuses on supporting adults with mental health and substance use co-occurring disorders. This is an unpaid, full-time position designed to align with your academic curriculum and provide practical experience in a professional clinical setting.
What you'll do#
- Participate as a member of the treatment team during clinical rotations.
- Provide one-on-one and group counseling for clients managing substance abuse or behavioral issues.
- Maintain clinical documentation in accordance with program and Medicaid standards, including assessments, service provision records, and progress reports.
- Apply academic knowledge to real-world scenarios within a facility-based crisis service environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Health and Human Sciences degree program, specifically in Psychology, Public Health, or Health Administration.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage assigned projects through to completion.
- Commitment to maintaining a high level of client confidentiality.
