The Denver Sheriff Department offers a Master's level clinical internship for the Fall 2026 term. This program provides direct, practical experience within a correctional facility, focusing on trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices. Interns work alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide services to individuals in the care and custody of the department.
What you'll do#
- Shadow experienced clinicians during initial clinical interviews and assessments to determine client functioning levels.
- Assist in the development and implementation of coordinated treatment plans for behavioral, medical, and psychological needs.
- Provide both individual and group intervention services.
- Participate in client staffing meetings to develop treatment recommendations and assist with reentry and transition planning.
- Learn to manage mental health alerts and support day-to-day operations in special management units.
- Engage in weekly individual supervision to review cases and clinical progress.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Master's degree program in Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field.
- Completion of all prerequisite coursework required by your academic institution.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a clinical environment.
- Demonstrated interest in working within a corrections or jail-based facility.
