About the role#
The Denver Sheriff Department is seeking applicants for a Master's level clinical internship with the Crisis Response Team. This program provides direct experience working within a correctional facility, offering exposure to trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices. Interns work alongside a multi-disciplinary team to support individuals within the care and custody of the department.
What you'll do#
- Work with Crisis Response Team clinicians on initial clinical interviews to determine functioning levels and manage mental health alerts.
- Assist in client evaluations for placement and service recommendations.
- Provide individual and group intervention services.
- Assist in the development and implementation of coordinated treatment plans to address behavioral, medical, and psychological needs.
- Participate in client staffings to develop treatment, reentry, and transition recommendations.
- Shadow team members to learn how to present case information using a systems model.
- Participate in individual weekly supervision.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Master's degree program in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Completion of all prerequisite coursework required by the academic institution.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a clinical environment.
- Demonstrated interest in a corrections or jail-based facility.
