About the role#
The Human Resources Intern supports the People and Culture team at Sojourner. This role offers hands-on experience in recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and HR administration. You will work directly with HR leadership to support a mission-driven nonprofit environment.
What you'll do#
- Post job openings on job boards and the company website.
- Screen resumes and coordinate interview schedules.
- Prepare new hire packets and assist with orientation logistics.
- Draft HR communications, forms, templates, and standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate meetings, recognition efforts, training sessions, and wellness activities.
- Assist with tracking staff training requirements and monitoring background checks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, documents, and databases.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- An interest in the nonprofit sector and commitment to the mission of Sojourner.
Location & details#
- Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 4 to 12 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 9 AM and 5 PM.
- Status: Paid internship.
