    About the role#

    This internship supports Live Operations by evaluating equipment, technology, and management practices that impact bird performance and welfare. You will work alongside the Live Operations team to collect data, assess equipment, and identify ways to improve grow-out operations.

    What you'll do#

    • Collect and analyze production data to find opportunities for improvement.
    • Evaluate how cup drinker systems affect paw quality and bird welfare.
    • Assess the accuracy of bin sensors and the effectiveness of barn tools and feed return processes.
    • Develop and present recommendations to improve bird health and operational efficiency.
    • Complete a summer project and present your findings at the end of the program.
    • Attend a semi-monthly seminar series and complete internship evaluations at weeks 5 and 10.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Poultry Science degree program.
    • Familiarity with poultry farming and grow-out operations.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
    • A valid driver's license and the ability to pass a motor vehicle record check.
    • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

    • Location: Candor, North Carolina.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Note: You must be available to travel to Delaware for final project presentations during the week of August 2-6, 2027.
