About the role#
As a Safety Intern at Mountaire Farms, you will support the Environmental Health and Safety team by analyzing workplace injury data and evaluating key safety programs. You will work directly with Safety, Operations, and Production teams to identify trends and develop recommendations for continuous improvement. This role provides exposure to occupational safety programs, exposure monitoring equipment, and regulatory compliance practices.
What you'll do#
- Analyze injury trends to identify the top causes of workplace injuries.
- Evaluate Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, and Industrial Hygiene programs.
- Support data-driven safety initiatives and corrective actions.
- Attend a weekly seminar series at various Mountaire facilities.
- Complete a 10 minute presentation on your project findings during the final week of the program.
- Participate in mid-way and final performance evaluations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an associate or bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university, with a preference for Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, or Agriculture majors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to pass a company motor vehicle record check.
- An aptitude for learning and using Industrial Hygiene monitoring equipment, such as sound dosimeters.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site internship based in Millsboro, Delaware.
- The term is for Summer 2027.
- The expected schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
- Interns must be available to travel to Millsboro, Delaware, for final presentations during the week of August 2 to August 6, 2027.
