About the role#
As a Per Diem Pharmacy Intern at Mount Sinai Morningside, you will assist our pharmacy team in providing essential medication services. This role involves working under the supervision of a pharmacist to support both inpatient and outpatient care. You will gain practical experience in a hospital setting while contributing to the accuracy and safety of our medication distribution processes.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and compound sterile and non-sterile products according to established protocols, ensuring all work is verified by a pharmacist.
- Dispense controlled substances under pharmacist supervision and maintain precise records of these transactions.
- Audit controlled drug disposition records for patient care units and report any discrepancies or unusual use patterns to management.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of medications and supplies, including the routine removal of expired items.
- Assist pharmacists in profiling patient medications, providing drug information, and completing required clinical documentation.
- Perform operational tasks such as filling unit-dose cassettes, conducting patient care rounds, and maintaining the cleanliness of the work environment.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 3 years at an accredited college of pharmacy.
- A valid New York State Pharmacy Intern Permit.
- Proficiency in English, both written and oral.
- Previous hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
