About the role#
This is a full-time, paid software engineering internship for the summer of 2027. You will join teams that develop and test software for microprocessor-based digital communication systems used by public safety organizations like police and fire departments. You will work on-site at our offices in either Plantation, Florida, or Schaumburg, Illinois.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and test digital communication systems.
- Manage the full software development lifecycle, including requirements capture and implementation.
- Follow established processes such as Test Driven Development (TDD) and Agile methodologies.
- Collaborate with team members on various software engineering tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
- Proficiency in Java, Android Studio, and the Android SDK.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with C, C++, or Python is a plus.
- Familiarity with Linux kernel development is a plus.
