Field Service Technician (Syracuse, NY) 2026 Co-Op Program

About the role#

The Field Service Technician Co-Op program offers hands-on experience with the Northeast Field Service Operations team. This role focuses on supporting public safety customers by applying academic knowledge to multi-site RF communications systems and networking infrastructure. You will work alongside technical leaders to solve complex problems and ensure the reliability of mission-critical systems.

What you'll do#

• Provide technical support for specialized telecommunications systems and public safety applications.
• Maintain and document complex communications systems, including base stations and console equipment.
• Develop solutions to technical challenges encountered during system maintenance, upgrades, and support.
• Submit weekly reports detailing activities and accomplishments.
• Participate in continuous training to master the latest troubleshooting techniques and technologies.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a 2-year or 4-year degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Industrial Engineering.
• Active pursuit of a Security+, Network+, CCNA, or NRS1 certification.
• Knowledge of wired communications, including LAN/WAN, cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.
• Experience with RF interfaces, such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.
• A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• U.S. citizenship with the ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check required for CJIS compliance.

Location & details#

• Locations: Liverpool, New York and remote options.
• Work Modality: This is a full-time, on-site and remote hybrid position.
• Compensation: $40,000 - $50,000 USD.
• Travel: Less than 10% travel required.
