About the role#
Mortenson is seeking a Safety Engineering Intern for the Spring 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship. You will work directly with project teams and subcontractors to maintain safety standards on construction sites. This role requires mobility and the ability to relocate for the duration of the assignment.
What you'll do#
- Champion zero injury safety requirements.
- Participate in daily safety audits and worker observations.
- Support the onsite new team member orientation process.
- Assist with incident investigation and analysis.
- Host daily stretch and bend sessions.
- Provide technical support regarding OSHA, MSDS, and event management.
- Complete and aid in training for the onsite safety program.
- Collaborate on initiatives to advance the safety program.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Health Administration, or a related field.
- Previous internship experience is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to relocate.
- Comfort working in environments with exposure to dirt, heat, noise, dust, and trailer office conditions.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Location & details#
- Location: United States (On-site).
- Term: Winter/Spring 2027 (January to April).
- Compensation: Hourly wage starts at $18, with potential for higher rates based on year in school.
- Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
