About the role#
As a Software Engineering Intern at Moon Power, you will join our engineering team to work on a production .NET Web API that powers scheduling, billing, and reporting for home services companies. This is not a project-based internship; you will be assigned real features and technical debt from your first week. You will work alongside engineers who will review your code to full-time standards, and you will be expected to participate in code reviews for others. You will be paired with a dedicated mentor who provides weekly 1:1s and structured guidance to help you ship code from design to production.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement .NET Web API endpoints, including contract design, business logic, and data layer implementation.
- Implement service-layer logic for core home services workflows.
- Participate in API design discussions regarding versioning, validation, and error handling.
- Build and test integrations between backend services and third-party APIs.
- Write unit and integration tests for all code to ensure adequate coverage before merging.
- Investigate and improve database performance by analyzing execution plans and optimizing queries.
- Use AI tools such as Cursor, Copilot, and Claude as a standard part of your development workflow for code generation, refactoring, and testing.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or Cybersecurity.
- Coursework or project experience in C# or a strong background in a statically typed language like Java, Kotlin, Go, or Swift.
- Understanding of REST API design fundamentals, including HTTP verbs, status codes, and request/response structures.
- Knowledge of SQL, including joins, filters, and aggregations.
- Active and opinionated experience using AI development tools.
- Ability to perform independent research before asking questions when stuck.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Glendale, California.
- The position requires an on-site presence of 3 days per week, with flexibility provided for academic schedules.
- This is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling application process.
- Sponsorship is not provided for this role.
