This internship offers the opportunity to contribute to a production-grade .NET Web API that powers scheduling, billing, and reporting for home services. You will be assigned real features and technical debt, with the expectation that you will design API contracts, implement business logic, and ship code to production. You will work alongside the engineering team with a dedicated mentor, participating in weekly 1:1s and live code review sessions. The engineering standards for interns are identical to those for full-time staff, and you will be expected to maintain high-quality code and testing coverage.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement .NET Web API endpoints, including contract design, business logic, and data layer integration.
- Implement service-layer logic for core home services workflows.
- Participate in API design discussions regarding versioning, validation, and error handling.
- Build and test integrations between backend services and third-party APIs.
- Investigate and optimize performance for slow queries and high-traffic endpoints.
- Write unit and integration tests for all code contributions.
- Utilize AI tools such as Cursor, Copilot, and Claude for code generation, refactoring, and testing.
- Engage in the peer code review process by both giving and receiving feedback.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or Cybersecurity.
- Coursework or project experience with C# or a strong background in a statically typed language like Java, Kotlin, Go, or Swift.
- Understanding of REST API design fundamentals, including HTTP verbs, status codes, and request/response structures.
- Proficiency in SQL, including joins, filters, and aggregations.
- Active and critical usage of AI development tools; you must be able to verify and understand the code generated by these tools.
- Ability to perform independent research before asking questions.
