About the role#
As a Software Engineer Co-op in the Valves group, you will join a team of experienced engineers to develop vacuum valve products. You will work on projects that support semiconductor manufacturing and other vacuum applications. This is a 3-month full-time summer assignment based in Andover, Massachusetts. You will report to the Engineering Manager.
What you'll do#
- Develop embedded software with guidance from senior engineers.
- Collaborate with Hardware and Controls Engineering staff to create solutions for customer problems.
- Troubleshoot issues at the hardware and system level.
- Write and perform test automation scripts to validate firmware and control valve features.
- Collect and analyze data from your tests.
- Document your procedures and results.
- Communicate technical information clearly in both oral and written formats.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
- Experience with embedded software development.
- Working knowledge of C, C++, and Python.
- Familiarity with PC-based development environments.
- Experience with tools such as oscilloscopes and in-circuit emulators.
- Understanding of microcontrollers or DSPs with communication interfaces.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- A hands-on approach to problem solving and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

- Location: Andover, Massachusetts.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $23.00 to $31.00 per hour.
- Benefits: Includes 11 paid holidays, sick time, and 15 days of accrued paid vacation for those working at least 20 hours per week.
