About the role#
As a Photonics technical content intern, you will work with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Corporate Marketing to create technical content about our photonics solutions. You will report to the Technical Content Marketing Manager within the Strategic Marketing organization. This role is based on-site at our Irvine, California facility.
What you'll do#
- Write clear and accurate technical content including application notes, product descriptions, white papers, technical guides, and educational resources.
- Partner with engineers, scientists, and product managers to translate technical insights into customer-focused messaging.
- Support content needs for product launches, marketing campaigns, and lifecycle materials.
- Ensure all content aligns with brand standards, technical accuracy, and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain content libraries and documentation processes to ensure version control and accessibility.
- Collaborate with marketing and creative teams to produce diagrams, videos, and animations.
- Use analytics and feedback to improve content effectiveness.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an MS or PhD program in Photonics, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 1-2 years of experience in technical writing, content development, or technical marketing within photonics, optics, lasers, or high-technology sectors.
- Ability to convert complex technical information into content for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience collaborating with subject-matter experts and cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with content management systems, digital marketing tools, and analytics platforms.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Hands-on experience with photonics systems, optics setups, lasers, or related instrumentation is preferred.
- Familiarity with visual content development, SEO, and digital content best practices is a plus.

- Location: Irvine, California, USA.
- Employment type: Full-time.
- Compensation: $20.00 to $33.00 per hour.
- Benefits: Interns working at least 20 hours per week receive 11 paid holidays, sick time, and 15 paid vacation days accrued biweekly.
- Travel: Occasional travel to trade shows, internal sites, or customer locations may be required.
