About the role#
As an Accounting Intern or Co-op at MKS Inc. in the Optical Sensing Products division, you will support daily financial activities and gain experience in a business environment. You will report to the Accounting Manager and work on hands-on tasks throughout your 4-month term. This role provides exposure to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and month-end closing processes.
What you'll do#
- Support Accounts Payable by entering invoices, verifying coding, matching purchase orders, and preparing items for payment.
- Assist with Accounts Receivable by creating customer invoices, recording payments, and reviewing aging reports.
- Reconcile accounts by comparing system balances, identifying variances, and preparing documentation.
- Maintain financial records in ERP systems and shared folders.
- Assist with month-end close tasks including data validation, report extraction, and journal entry support.
- Organize backup files and retrieve records to support audit documentation.
- Contribute to process improvements in AP, AR, and data-entry workflows.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Accounting, Business Administration, or a related major.
- A basic understanding of accounting concepts like AP, AR, debits, and credits.
- Ability to use Excel for sorting, filtering, and simple formulas.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to spot mistakes.
- Willingness to learn ERP or accounting software with provided training.
- Good organization skills for managing digital and physical files.
- Time management skills and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential financial information.
- Clear communication and technical writing skills.

- Location: Richmond, British Columbia, Canada.
- Term: Winter 2027 (4 months).
- Modality: On-site.
- Employment: Full time.
- Compensation: $25.00 per hour.
