About the role#
Minneapolis College is hiring a part-time Student Worker Paraprofessional to support the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center. This role assists the director, coordinator, and staff in daily operations while providing direct services to students. You will help maintain a welcoming environment that advocates for equity in education.
What you'll do#
- Manage the intake and check-in process for new and current students.
- Research and refer students to advisors for career, admissions, financial aid, or loan concerns.
- Collect and enter data while maintaining accurate records.
- Recruit new participants to the program.
- Create outreach materials and support staff during workshops or tabling events.
- Perform additional duties to ensure smooth department functioning.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a post-secondary or graduate program (at least six credits for credit-granting institutions or two classes for non-credit institutions).
- Strong communication skills, including experience with telephone, scheduling, and intake.
- Experience working with diverse, low-income, first-generation students, and students with disabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, online databases, and internet research.
- Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills as a self-starter.
- Commitment to cultural fluency, responsive practices, and antiracism professional development.
- Current or former Minneapolis College employees must be in good standing.
- Preference given to TRIO alumni, current participants, or those who would have qualified for the program, as well as those with prior TRIO EOC experience.
Location & details#
- Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- Modality: On-site with potential for partial telework based on college guidelines.
- Schedule: Flexible, with a preference for Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Term: Rolling.
