About the role#
The Credit Analyst Intern supports the Commercial Credit Department by assisting with financial analysis and special projects. You will gain direct exposure to the commercial lending process, loan structures, and the credit approval cycle. This role focuses on how credit analysis identifies and manages risk for the bank. You will work alongside Commercial Credit leadership, Commercial Lenders, and Market Presidents to build your foundational skills in financial analysis.
What you'll do#
- Assist with financial statement analysis to evaluate commercial borrowers and credit requests.
- Learn how to identify and reduce credit risk.
- Gain exposure to commercial loan structures and documentation processes.
- Collaborate with Credit team members and business partners.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Finance or Accounting degree program with at least two years of coursework completed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Teams.
- Strong analytical skills and a specific interest in financial statement analysis.
- Ability to learn new software and financial concepts quickly.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to work well within a team environment.
- Interest in a career in commercial lending or credit analysis.
Location & details#
- Location: Rockford, IL (must be local and report to the office).
- Term: Summer 2027 (mid-May through early August).
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Pay: $18 per hour.
