About the role#
The AI Solutions Engineer Intern supports our AI team in prototyping, testing, and delivering practical artificial intelligence solutions. You will help safely embed AI into business workflows across the Bank. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Own or contribute to at least one production-focused AI project from idea through delivery.
- Build AI agents and applications to support practical business use cases.
- Connect enterprise data and systems using APIs, Model Context Protocol, or other integration methods.
- Enhance the Midland AI platform and develop workflow automations.
- Test emerging AI models and measure solution adoption and business impact.
- Collaborate with AI and engineering team members and business partners.
- Apply governance, security, and testing practices while maintaining compliance with regulations like the Bank Secrecy Act.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Computer Science, Engineering, Data/Analytics, Information Systems, or related degree program.
- At least 2 years of your degree program completed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and technical curiosity.
- Ability to learn quickly, experiment, and turn ideas into working solutions.
- Experience with software development or data.
- Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Experience with Python, APIs, SQL, cloud technologies, or GenAI tools is preferred.
- Exposure to large language models, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation, or application development is a plus.
Location & details#
- This internship is based on-site in Effingham, IL, Rockford, IL, or St. Louis, MO.
- The term runs from mid-May 2027 through early August 2027.
- You must be available to work a 40-hour week, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- The pay rate is $18 per hour.
