About the role#
Michael Baker International is hiring a Planning Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position is based in our Harrisburg, Pennsylvania office and provides technical support for our multimodal transportation, community planning, and economic development services.
What you'll do#
- Provide support for multimodal transportation planning including surface, public, bicycle, pedestrian, rail, and aviation projects.
- Assist in preparing written technical planning studies, feasibility studies, and long-range plans.
- Conduct analytical research on transportation policy and public programs.
- Use ArcGIS to create spatial data, analyze information, and publish maps.
- Develop and maintain project databases using MS Excel, MS Access, and MS SQL server.
- Conduct field work as required.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Urban or Regional Planning, Public Administration, Government, or Environmental Planning.
- At least 2 years of completed coursework for Bachelor’s degree candidates.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- A valid motor vehicle driver’s license.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with GIS is preferred.
