About the role#
Michael Baker International is seeking a Construction Intern for Summer 2027 based in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. You will work under the direction of the Construction Services Manager on various inspection projects. Your primary responsibility is to monitor and document that highway, roadway, and bridge projects are built according to plans and specifications. When not in the field, you may assist with design tasks, administrative duties, and project tracking.
What you'll do#
- Review plans and specifications for active construction contracts and notify your manager of any errors or constructability issues.
- Assist with overseeing daily operations of contractors and subcontractors.
- Review contractor schedule updates, submittals, RFIs, and other project communications.
- Track construction progress and review short-term look-ahead activities.
- Participate in project progress, coordination, safety, and construction meetings.
- Prepare meeting minutes and track action items.
- Document work performed to ensure accurate quantity tracking.
- Prepare field drawings or electronic templates for as-builts and payment applications.
- Monitor material testing needs, including concrete, soils, and aggregates.
- Apply testing frequencies to ensure contract compliance.
- Assist inspection staff with Daily Field Inspection Reports, material requirements, and delivery documentation.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Completion of at least two years of coursework in your degree program.
- A willingness to pursue technical certifications.
