About the role#
The Finance and Timekeeping department at Staten Island Railway manages critical operational functions including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and procurement. This intern role focuses on modernizing financial and timekeeping processes through technology. You will assist the team in automating reporting, improving data accuracy, and supporting daily financial operations.
What you'll do#
- Organize payroll documentation and maintain digital archives.
- Reconcile invoices, payments, and purchase orders.
- Generate payroll and attendance analysis reports.
- Update SharePoint trackers and financial databases.
- Prepare documentation for Absence Control Policy counseling sessions.
- Monitor procurement inboxes and track requisition statuses.
- Compile data for FMLA and reimbursable labor reporting.
- Build programs to visualize financial analysis for stakeholders.
- Develop tools to analyze timekeeping data and prevent attendance fraud.
- Replace manual workflows by implementing new technology platforms.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program with at least a 2.5 GPA or a graduate program with at least a 2.8 GPA.
- Majors in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Capability to handle pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
- A keen eye for detail.

- This is a paid, full-time internship for Winter 2027.
- The role is based on-site in Staten Island, New York.
