About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in precast concrete manufacturing and structural design. You will work alongside plant experts and engineers to apply your academic studies to real-world projects. You will be assigned a mentor for daily support as you gain insight into the field.
What you'll do#
- Gain exposure to plant operations including steel fabrication, material handling, quality control, the carpentry shop, the batch plant, and finishing processes.
- Participate in site visits to understand the erection process.
- Assist experienced engineers with structural design and analysis using industry-standard software.
- Review technical drawings under professional guidance.
- Complete a mock design project.
- Follow all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of structural engineering principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to adapt to changes in work schedules or tasks.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or 3D modeling software is preferred.
- Knowledge of building codes and construction practices is preferred.
- Prior internship or co-op experience in a related field is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Hiram, Georgia.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm (hours may vary during production training).
- Modality: On-site.
- This is a paid, full-time position.
- The role involves both office and plant environments. You may be exposed to varying weather conditions, noise, and physical tasks including standing for long periods, bending, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
