EHS Safety Co-Op

About the role#

Metalsa is seeking an EHS Safety Co-Op to join the Hopkinsville, Kentucky team. This role provides hands-on experience in manufacturing safety, focusing on process improvements and supporting the EHS team to maintain a safe, productive work environment within machining and assembly operations.

What you'll do#

• Validate current safety processes to ensure productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction, including documenting and conducting training on improvements.
• Analyze best practices and develop safety processes to meet plant objectives through problem-solving.
• Assist the safety team with various operational safety improvements and special projects.
• Support the team in training new hires or skilled trades.
• Proactively identify and report unsafe acts or conditions and work to improve overall plant working conditions.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by the needs of the department.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in safety, engineering, or a related field, with at least two years of undergraduate studies completed.
• Preferred majors include Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Environmental Engineering.
• Previous experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Strong leadership competencies, including problem-solving, planning, and business acumen.
