Neurologic Music Therapist - Clinical Internship

About the role#

MedRhythms, Inc. is seeking a Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) intern to join the Therapy Division in Boston. This internship offers the opportunity to gain clinical experience in neuro-rehabilitation, focusing on the intersection of music, neuroscience, and technology to support patient recovery.

What you'll do#

• Complete 1040 hours of internship, including approximately 900 hours of direct clinical care.
• Develop a foundational understanding of neurologic populations, NMT research, neuroanatomy, and the neuroscience of music.
• Build working relationships with interdisciplinary teams, including physical, occupational, and speech therapists, as well as nursing and medical staff.
• Observe and facilitate individual and group assessments and sessions using NMT interventions.
• Develop patient treatment plans and establish specific goals and objectives.
• Complete documentation for all clinical sessions provided.
• Increase proficiency in standardized assessments and articulate the importance of measuring patient progress.
• Communicate the benefits of NMT to interdisciplinary teams, patients, and family members.
• Participate in supervision and conduct an in-service presentation on NMT.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Music Therapy degree program.
• Strong clinical skills in administering NMT interventions.
• Strong clinical musicianship.
• Ability to work effectively in a flexible, high-demand environment.

• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality as mandated by HIPAA.
