About the role#
This is a paid, full-time clinical internship focused on neurologic music therapy. Interns will complete 1040 hours of training, with approximately 900 hours dedicated to direct clinical care. The role involves working within an interdisciplinary team to support patient recovery through the intersection of music, neuroscience, and technology.
What you'll do#
- Develop and demonstrate a foundational understanding of neurologic populations, NMT research, neuroanatomy, and the neuroscience of music.
- Observe and facilitate co-treatment, individual, and group sessions using NMT interventions.
- Develop treatment plans and establish goals and objectives for patients.
- Communicate the uses and benefits of NMT to interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families.
- Build professional working relationships with other clinical disciplines, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, respiratory therapy, nursing, and medical staff.
- Complete session documentation and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Attend supervision sessions and conduct an in-service presentation regarding NMT.
