About the role#
The Clinical Laboratory Extern works under the supervision of laboratory staff. You will apply knowledge gained through your studies to real-world clinical tasks. This role involves analyzing specimens and verifying the accuracy of results.
What you'll do#
- Collect, prepare, store, and transport specimens using correct techniques and protocols.
- Maintain patient identification and testing integrity throughout all stages of the laboratory process.
- Organize and perform specimen analysis, including quality control.
- Correlate laboratory theory with practical application while using the Laboratory Information System.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols.
- Handle incoming phone calls, document requests, and provide follow-up.
- Assist the team in maintaining laboratory supplies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a recognized school of Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology.
