About the role#
The Clinical Laboratory Extern works under the supervision of laboratory staff. You will apply knowledge gained from your studies to assist with specimen analysis and verify the accuracy of results.
What you'll do#
- Collect, prepare, store, and transport specimens using correct techniques and protocols.
- Maintain patient identification and testing integrity through all stages of the process.
- Perform specimen analysis, including quality control.
- Correlate laboratory principles to real-world application under direct supervision.
- Use the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to document requests and process data.
- Solve problems and evaluate the validity of test results.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols.
- Assist with maintaining laboratory supplies.
- Answer incoming phone calls and document requests.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a recognized school of Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology.
