About the role#
McGill Associates, PA is hiring an Engineering Intern to work in our Asheville office. This internship program allows you to apply classroom theory to practical engineering projects. You will work alongside project engineers to develop your technical skills and gain experience for a future career in civil engineering.
What you'll do#
- Draft and design site layouts, including grading, earthwork, utility routing, and storm drainage.
- Assist with the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, as well as water and sewer lines.
- Help prepare permitting documents, design reports, and construction plans.
- Support the construction administration process by reviewing shop drawings and coordinating with field personnel to resolve installation issues.
- Perform site evaluations, document existing features, and conduct field inspections.
- Assist with project budgets, cost estimates, and quantity takeoffs.
- Complete ad hoc tasks as assigned by project managers.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related degree program. Rising Juniors and Seniors are preferred.
- Experience using AutoCAD. Knowledge of Civil 3D is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- A valid driver's license.
