About the role#
McGill Associates, PA is seeking an Engineering Intern to join our civil engineering team. This role bridges the gap between classroom theory and professional practice. You will work on standard engineering tasks and support Project Engineers with design work, construction administration, and project documentation. Assignments are tailored to your experience level to help build your skills for a future career in the industry.
What you'll do#
- Draft and design site layouts, access, and utilities.
- Perform grading, earthwork calculations, and utility routing.
- Design storm drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control systems.
- Assist with the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, linear water and sewer lines, and electrical controls.
- Help prepare permitting documents, design reports, and final construction plans.
- Support construction administration by reviewing contractor shop drawings, performing field inspections, and testing utility systems.
- Evaluate project budgets, cost estimates, and site features.
- Document design changes and coordinate with field personnel to resolve installation issues.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Civil or Environmental Engineering program or a related field.
- Preference is given to rising Juniors and Seniors.
- Experience using AutoCAD, with Civil 3D skills preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- A valid driver's license.
