About the role#
McGill Associates, PA offers an internship program for students to apply classroom theory to professional civil engineering projects. You will work alongside project engineers to develop technical skills and gain experience in the field. Assignments vary based on your experience level and team placement.
What you'll do#
- Draft and design site layouts, including site access, grading, and earthwork calculations.
- Coordinate utility routing, storm drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control.
- Assist with water and wastewater treatment plant design, linear design for water and sewer lines, and electrical controls.
- Help develop permitting and final project documents.
- Support construction administration by reviewing contractor shop drawings, conducting field inspections, and testing utility systems.
- Perform site evaluations and document existing features.
- Prepare project budgets, cost estimates, and quantity evaluations.
- Document design changes and communications throughout the project lifecycle.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Civil or Environmental Engineering program or a related field. Rising Juniors and Seniors are preferred.
- Experience using AutoCAD. Familiarity with Civil 3D is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong writing and communication skills.
- A valid driver’s license.
