About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work with our engineering, maintenance, and operations teams at the Mapei manufacturing facility in West Chicago. You will gain hands-on experience applying engineering principles to equipment and processes in a live production environment. This role supports projects that may lead to future full-time engineering opportunities within the company.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering projects related to manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
- Develop and update equipment drawings, layouts, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Collect and analyze equipment and process-performance data.
- Assist with the preparation of project plans, reports, and presentations.
- Contribute to preventive maintenance, reliability, safety, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the facility.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program for Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Strong communication skills.
- An innovative mindset and a motivation to learn.
- Willingness to travel.
Location & details#
- Location: West Chicago, Illinois.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May through August).
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid position with an hourly rate up to $23.00, with potential for housing stipends in certain situations.
