About the role#
As an Automation Engineering Intern, you will work with our engineering, maintenance, and operations teams at the Mapei manufacturing facility in West Chicago. You will gain hands-on experience with industrial equipment, control systems, and continuous-improvement initiatives in a live manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Support automation and controls projects for manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Assist with PLC, HMI, sensor, instrumentation, and control-system activities.
- Troubleshoot equipment and identify opportunities to improve reliability.
- Collect and analyze equipment, process, and automation-performance data.
- Support system testing, validation, documentation, and implementation.
- Assist with technical drawings, reports, procedures, and project deliverables.
What you'll need#
- Actively pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Automation, Electrical, Computer, or Controls Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong communication skills.
- Willingness to travel.
Location & details#
- Location: West Chicago, Illinois.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May through August).
- Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week).
- This role is on-site.
