About the role#
Maine Drilling & Blasting is hiring for the Summer 2027 internship program. This role is for college students, ideally in Civil Engineering or Construction Management programs. It is designed for hands-on, field-oriented students who want to develop a career path toward future Superintendent roles. You will work under the direction of Superintendents, Blasting Supervisors, or Drill Operators. This is a full-time, on-site position that may require out-of-town travel and overtime.
What you'll do#
- Follow all company safety procedures and policies.
- Participate in daily, periodic, and monthly safety and job meetings.
- Perform construction laboring activities and take direction from site leadership.
- Carry buckets of stemming stone to stem blast holes.
- Pump blast holes dry using a water pump.
- Load and unload explosives from trucks.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site.
- Submit accurate, signed weekly time cards to your Blaster or Foreman.
- Work unsupervised on occasion.
What you'll need#
- A valid driver's license with a good driving record and your own transportation.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check for the ATF.
- Physical agility to work on uneven, loose surfaces outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Capacity to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to stoop and bend for a majority of the workday.
- Willingness to learn and develop skills for higher-level tasks.
- Prior experience as a construction laborer is helpful but not required.

This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027. Positions are available in Gardiner, ME; Auburn, NH; Brattleboro, VT; Argyle, NY; Watertown, NY; Millford, MA; Rocky Hill, CT; Bethel, PA; Winchester, VA; Liberty, NC; Lebanon, TN; and Douglasville, GA.
