About the role#
This internship is designed for college students interested in field-oriented construction work. It is a pathway for those looking to grow into future Superintendent roles. You will work under the direction of Superintendents, Blasting Supervisors, and Drill Operators. The role requires the ability to work in various weather conditions, and you may need to travel out of town or work overtime.
What you'll do#
- Follow all company safety procedures and policies.
- Participate in daily, monthly, and periodic safety and job meetings.
- Perform construction laboring tasks, including working unsupervised when necessary.
- Pump blast holes dry using a water pump.
- Load and unload explosives from trucks.
- Carry buckets of stemming stone to stem blast holes.
- Keep job sites clean and organized.
- Submit accurate, signed time cards to your Blaster or Foreman each week.
- Maintain physical agility to work on uneven, loose surfaces outdoors.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a college program, preferably in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- A valid driver's license with a good driving record and your own transportation.
- A safety-minded approach to all tasks.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check required by the ATF.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to perform tasks involving stooping and bending for the majority of the workday.
- Previous construction labor experience is helpful but not required.
