About the role#
This internship is for college students, ideally in Civil Engineering or Construction Management programs. We designed this role for field-oriented students who want to develop their skills with the goal of moving into future Superintendent roles. You will work under the direction of Superintendents, Blasting Supervisors, and Drill Operators. Please note that this role requires out-of-town travel and occasional overtime.
What you'll do#
You will perform construction laboring activities while learning to work safely around explosives. Key responsibilities include:
- Adhere to all company safety procedures and policies.
- Participate in daily, periodic, and monthly safety and job meetings.
- Pump blast holes dry using a water pump.
- Load and unload explosives from trucks.
- Carry buckets of stemming stone to stem blast holes.
- Keep the job site clean and organized.
- Submit accurate, signed time cards to your supervisor weekly.
- Work unsupervised on occasion.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current college student with a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- You need your own transportation.
- You must pass a pre-employment physical, a drug screen, and a criminal background check for the ATF.
- You should be safety-minded and physically agile, with the ability to work at a steady pace on uneven or loose surfaces.
- You must be able to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally, as well as stoop and bend frequently.
- Prior experience as a construction laborer is helpful but not required.

This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term. Work is on-site at one of our locations: Gardiner, ME; Auburn, NH; Brattleboro, VT; Argyle, NY; Watertown, NY; Millford, MA; Rocky Hill, CT; Bethel, PA; Winchester, VA; Liberty, NC; Lebanon, TN; or Douglasville, GA.
