About the role#
This internship is designed for college students interested in field-oriented construction work. It is a path for those looking to develop skills toward future Superintendent roles. You will work under the direction of Superintendents, Blasting Supervisors, and Drill Operators. The role requires working in varying weather conditions and may involve out-of-town travel and overtime.
What you'll do#
- Follow all company safety procedures and policies.
- Participate in daily, monthly, and periodic safety and job meetings.
- Perform construction laboring tasks, including working unsupervised at times.
- Pump blast holes dry using a water pump.
- Load and unload explosives from trucks.
- Carry buckets of stemming stone to stem blast holes.
- Keep the job site clean and organized.
- Submit accurate, signed time cards to your Blaster or Foreman weekly.
- Maintain physical agility to work on uneven and loose surfaces.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college program, preferably in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- A valid driver license with a good driving record and your own transportation.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check for the ATF.
- Capability to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to perform stooping and bending for the majority of the workday.
- Previous construction labor experience is helpful but not required.
