About the role#
Luther Seminary is hiring a Student Library Assistant to join our circulation team. This position supports our library staff in serving a diverse community of patrons and keeping our book collections organized. You will work on-site in Saint Paul, MN, helping to maintain a welcoming environment for students and visitors.
What you'll do#
- Manage circulation desk duties, including checking books in and out, answering patron questions, and helping users locate materials.
- Handle book stack maintenance by re-shelving items and performing shelf reading.
- Manage opening and closing procedures, such as unlocking and locking doors, shutting down equipment, and clearing the building.
- Assist patrons with building access, including operating the elevator for wheelchair access.
- Maintain a safe and hospitable environment for all library users.
What you'll need#
- A college degree.
- At least one year of experience in a customer service role.
- Ability to push a full book cart and stand for long periods of time.
- Comfort using basic office equipment like computers, printers, and copiers.
- Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills.
