About the role#
Loureiro Engineering Associates is looking for a Wastewater Engineering Intern to join the Facility Engineering Division in Plainville, CT. This role offers hands-on experience supporting the planning, design, and evaluation of wastewater collection and treatment systems. You will work alongside licensed engineers on projects for municipal, industrial, and private clients, gaining exposure to infrastructure that protects public health and the environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design of wastewater collection systems, pump stations, and treatment facilities.
- Perform basic hydraulic calculations under supervision.
- Prepare engineering drawings, figures, and design documents.
- Conduct site visits and condition assessments of existing systems.
- Research design standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Support permit applications and report preparation.
- Participate in internal team meetings and multidisciplinary coordination.
What you'll need#
- Junior, senior, or graduate-level student pursuing a degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Interest in wastewater, water resources, or utility engineering.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or other civil design software is a plus.
- Prior internship, research, or project experience related to wastewater or infrastructure is a plus.

- Compensation: $25 to $27 per hour.
