About the role#
Loureiro Engineering Associates is looking for an Environmental Intern to support our environmental team. This position offers hands-on experience with environmental assessment, investigation, remediation, compliance, and engineering projects. You will work alongside scientists, geologists, and engineers on real project deliverables, splitting your time between fieldwork and office-based technical analysis. This is a paid, full-time internship.
What you'll do#
- Assist with environmental field investigations and sampling programs for soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and air.
- Support Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and due diligence activities.
- Document soil borings and help install groundwater monitoring wells.
- Collect water-level measurements and assist with surveying, aquifer testing, and construction diagrams.
- Support remediation projects, including the monitoring and maintenance of systems.
- Perform engineering calculations and technical analyses.
- Review, tabulate, and interpret environmental and operational data.
- Prepare tables, figures, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Conduct project research, including historical record reviews and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with environmental permitting, licensing, and proposal development.
- Review health and safety regulations to support client compliance.
- Follow company standard operating procedures and safety practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student.
- Pursuit of a degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Foundational knowledge of environmental science, geology, hydrogeology, chemistry, or engineering principles.
- Strong computer and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, or hike for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification is a plus.
- Prior experience in consulting, fieldwork, laboratory, research, or design is a plus.
