About the role#
Loureiro Engineering Associates is looking for an Environmental Intern to support our environmental team. This position offers hands-on experience with environmental assessment, investigation, remediation, compliance, and engineering projects. You will work alongside experienced scientists, geologists, and engineers on project deliverables that include fieldwork, technical analysis, and regulatory research. Depending on your background and interests, your work may focus on site assessment or environmental engineering and remediation systems.
What you'll do#
- Assist with environmental field investigations and sampling programs for soil, groundwater, surface water, and air.
- Support Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and due diligence activities.
- Help with soil boring advancement, groundwater monitoring well installation, and water-level measurements.
- Collect data for elevation surveying, aquifer testing, and soil boring logs.
- Support remediation projects by monitoring and maintaining systems.
- Perform engineering calculations and technical analyses.
- Review, tabulate, and interpret environmental data.
- Prepare tables, figures, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Conduct research on historical records and environmental regulations.
- Assist with permitting, licensing, and proposal development.
- Follow company standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student.
- A degree path in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Foundational knowledge of environmental science, hydrogeology, chemistry, or engineering principles.
- Strong computer and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- A 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification or prior consulting, fieldwork, or research experience is a plus.
