About the role#
This is a full-time, paid Software Development internship for the Winter 2027 term. You will join the Loblaw Digital team in Toronto to work on AI-driven initiatives. You will design and build machine learning and generative AI solutions to address business challenges while working alongside engineering and data science teams.
What you'll do#
- Build ML and generative AI solutions using large structured and unstructured datasets.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Data Platform teams to deploy models into production.
- Work with Product, Trading, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Web Analytics teams to source data, define requirements, and set success metrics.
- Monitor advancements in machine learning and AI to contribute to team growth.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python and comfort with SQL querying.
- Foundational knowledge in machine learning and an interest in generative AI.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A creative and resourceful approach to problem-solving.
- A portfolio of personal or academic machine learning projects is considered an asset, as is knowledge of any ML framework.

- Location: Toronto, Ontario.
- Term: January 6, 2027 to April 16, 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid (up to 1 day remote per week, with 4 days in the office).
- Compensation: $35,100 to $65,700 per year, depending on experience and academic level.
