About the role#
The Bedgear Research & Innovation Lab focuses on performance sleep and recovery systems. We offer a high degree of freedom in research projects, allowing interns to learn and grow while helping the company stay ahead of the curve. This is an on-site, rolling internship position based in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
What you'll do#
- Design software applications and improve existing projects alongside researchers and engineers.
- Build prototypes for annual tradeshows and furniture markets in collaboration with other teams.
- Manage the software development life cycle, including project planning, validation, and testing.
- Develop and design software systems, including implementing validation and testing methods.
- Create innovative solutions to meet technical project needs and fix software bugs.
- Assist with sleep studies, equipment management, and the design of new equipment.
- Present designs to teammates and provide feedback on their projects.
- Travel occasionally to collaborate with contracted engineers, field technicians, and staff.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and intrapersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and process orientation.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and use sound judgment.
- Understanding of company confidentiality agreements.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- A portfolio highlighting previous projects is required.
- Experience with Python, Java, signal processing, image processing, GUI coding, and data visualization is preferred.
- Experience with embedded applications using microcontrollers like Arduino and Raspberry Pi is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Rock Hill, South Carolina.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour.
- Schedule: 20 to 25 hours per week.
