About the role#
As an intern at LJA, you will support the design team in the preparation of planning and design documents. You will work on a variety of project types and scales, including commercial, mixed-use, industrial, residential, and urban redevelopment. You will report to project managers and contribute to a collaborative, team-based environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with design presentations, site plans, feasibility studies, master plans, concept plans, lotting studies, and base files.
- Research planning trends, zoning codes, and jurisdictional ordinances.
- Visit project sites to photograph existing conditions, collect data, observe construction progress, and prepare reports.
- Support the filing of plans with various jurisdictions and agencies.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and produce deliverables.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BA or BS in Architecture, Planning, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, SketchUp, Acrobat Pro, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication and graphic presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Ability to receive constructive feedback and demonstrate improvement.
- Desire to work in a collaborative, team-based environment.
Location & details#
- Locations: Dallas, Texas and Mc Kinney, Texas.
- Term: Summer 2027 (mid-May through the first week of August).
- Modality: Full-time, on-site, 40 hours per week.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
