About the role#
The Personal Trainer Internship is a hands-on program for individuals looking to start a career in the health and fitness industry. You will receive direct mentorship from experienced trainers and gain real-world experience in a club environment. This role follows a structured schedule that includes observation, client interaction, and practical training to help you develop essential professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Complete all required training and follow company safety standards.
- Assist members on the fitness floor to ensure safety, provide education, and offer motivation.
- Perform fitness assessments, assist with equipment operations, and maintain cleanliness of fitness equipment.
- Support the service desk and engage in member outreach activities like boothing.
- Promote personal training programs and services to members.
- Document your weekly experiences, including observations and lessons learned.
- Assist with personal training sessions when appropriate.
- Meet weekly with your supervisor to review progress and set objectives.
- Work in various departments to support overall member experience and engagement.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Working knowledge of the human body and fitness concepts.
- Ability to learn and apply new information quickly.
- Punctual, positive, and energetic attitude.
- Desire to pursue an accredited Personal Training Certification or a related degree.
- Goal of working as a Personal Trainer at Life Time in the future.
- Ability to perform aerobic activity for the duration of a class.
- Physical ability to bend, stand, reach, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- CPR and AED certification is preferred.
- Experience in customer service, fitness facility work, or program design is a plus.
