About the role#
The Government Relations Intern supports our team in carrying out public policy strategy. You will work with the Manager of State Government Affairs and collaborate with the broader government relations team. This position offers exposure to legislative meetings, advocacy events, and trade association functions. You will be paid $23 per hour.
What you'll do#
- Research issues and develop memos.
- Map stakeholders and prepare for meetings.
- Monitor government policies and proposals at both state and federal levels.
- Prepare materials for and attend trade association fly-ins with staff and member-owners.
- Update grassroots management systems.
- Draft summaries for issues and hearings.
- Coordinate in-district events and participate in legislative activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a four-year undergraduate degree program in Political Science, Communications, Business, Economics, Pre-Law, or a related field.
- A demonstrated interest in politics, public policy, communications, and agriculture.
- General knowledge of government processes and current affairs.
- Strong verbal and business writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once.
Location & details#
- Term: January 2027 through July 2027.
- Schedule: Part-time from January through May, transitioning to full-time during the summer.
- Location: The role is virtual or hybrid in Arden Hills, MN or Washington, D.C. from January to May. The summer portion is in-person in Washington, D.C.
