About the role#
Labcorp is seeking a Payroll Tax Intern to join our team in Burlington, North Carolina. This is a full-time, paid position for the Summer 2027 term. You will gain hands-on experience with payroll processing, tax withholding, regulatory reporting, and reconciliation processes while developing an understanding of Federal, State, and Local payroll tax requirements.
What you'll do#
- Support daily payroll tax audit tasks.
- Assist with multiple projects and ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
- Support the reconciliation of quarter-end and year-end payroll tax filings.
- Learn the processes used to withhold taxes and report employee and employer tax withholding to regulatory agencies.
- Support processes used to report earnings to employees and regulatory agencies.
- Participate in training to develop an understanding of payroll tax regulations.
- Collaborate with Payroll Tax team members and internal and external colleagues to support payroll tax processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience or interest in tax and payroll tax processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in an academic or professional setting.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with others.
- Initiative and the ability to work independently under general supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Workday and payroll systems is preferred.

- Location: Burlington, North Carolina.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 1, 2027, to August 13, 2027).
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
- Note: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
