About the role#
Labcorp is seeking a Research and Development Intern to join our Oncology Medical Team in Durham, North Carolina. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work alongside our team to develop and validate new oncology clinical tests.
What you'll do#
- Learn the clinical testing and processing methods behind test development.
- Gain experience with techniques such as Next Generation Sequencing and data analysis.
- Serve as a development lead for a new Oncology Next Generation Sequencing assay.
- Maintain clear, thorough, and accurate experiment notes.
- Apply critical thinking skills to analyze experimental results.
- Communicate your findings during laboratory meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Biology, Chemistry, Genetics, or a related Biological Science.
- Hands-on experience in a cell or molecular biology-based laboratory.
- A strong interest in clinical testing or molecular research.
- Curiosity and an eagerness to learn new things.
- Preferred: 3-6 months of experience with Next Generation Sequencing technologies.

- Location: Durham, North Carolina.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Duration: 11 weeks, from June 1, 2027, to August 13, 2027.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
- Note: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
