About the role#
This internship provides relevant field experience within our Gastroenterology research unit. You will work under the guidance of assigned mentors who provide instruction and performance feedback. The position is part time and requires on-site attendance in Mankato, Minnesota.
What you'll do#
- Observe the daily functions and processes of the research unit.
- Complete specific work assignments to support team goals and your own learning.
- Prepare and submit all required internship reports for both Mayo Clinic and your educational institution.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of faculty, students, clinicians, and researchers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Sciences, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Completion of most coursework required by your degree program.
- Active registration for coursework during the current or upcoming academic term.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with libraries such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, pandas, or NumPy.
- Practical experience or coursework in machine learning model development, data preprocessing, feature engineering, and visualization.
- Familiarity with areas such as natural language processing, deep learning, computer vision, bioinformatics, or healthcare data analytics.
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
